Female Partner Became Popular in a Love Show - Chapter 121
Ruan Qiu, with her glamorous appearance, seemed like a veteran in romantic affairs but was actually very innocent, completely oblivious to Xue Wu’s efforts. Despite his attempts, she still thought they were just pretending.
But now, Ruan Qiu was actively seeking advice on maintaining a pretend relationship, which meant she was starting to have feelings, even if she didn’t realize it yet.
Grinning, Qin Shuangyu sent all the tips her manager had given her to Ruan Qiu, wanting to say a few more words to help her recognize her feelings but held back.
It was better for the young couple to develop their feelings naturally, she thought, though she wouldn’t admit she wanted to see more of Xue Wu’s flustered reactions.
Receiving the file, Ruan Qiu thanked her sincerely, wished Qin Shuangyu goodnight, and then told Xue Wu and Sister Lin too, omitting the part about asking Qin Shuangyu for tips.
The next morning, Ruan Qiu got up early, studying the tips Qin Shuangyu sent until she arrived at the filming site and was pulled away for makeup.
By the time she finished studying the tips, she had a clear understanding: their physical contact wasn’t enough; she needed to act shy when touched. Their conversations lacked romantic hints, and even their gazes needed more depth…
After makeup and costume, Ruan Qiu walked to the set, still thinking about the tips, not noticing the sudden silence that fell over the previously bustling set.
The director, hiding his amazement, adjusted his sunglasses and called out, “Ruan Qiu, come over for a rehearsal!”
“Okay,” Ruan Qiu responded, walking to the set.
Her character, a beacon of hope for the male lead, wore an ethereal outfit. The director’s aesthetic sense was impeccable, not designing an all-white dress but using a light apricot color with lotus-pink trims at the collar, sleeves, and hem, adorned with intricate embroidery. The only accessory was a white jade pendant at her waist.
Since her character was a swordswoman, her long hair was tied back with a light blue ribbon, fluttering in the wind.
The makeup artist, inspired by K-family’s runway video, lengthened her eyebrows, applied apricot eyeshadow, and added a touch of red to her lips, making her look gentler than she did in the runway show.
The movie, a xianxia movie backed by major capital to promote new stars, featured fresh faces as the male and female leads. The actor playing the male lead was completely mesmerized by Ruan Qiu until she walked over to him, reciting her lines, and he stammered, “H-hello, Senior.”
The director, not one for dawdling, saw that all the actors and extras were ready and immediately sat behind the camera, shouting, “Everyone, listen up! Let’s try to get this in one take. Stay sharp!”
“Scene one, take one, action!”
At the director’s call, Ruan Qiu instantly got into character, facing the group of demonic cultivators before her. Her junior martial brother stepped forward, sternly ordering them to leave.
But the demonic cultivators ignored them, sneering as they drew their weapons, ready to charge.
Here they come.
The director tensed up. Although he had seen Ruan Qiu’s sword dance video—it was too popular to ignore—he thought it was a solo performance. This fight scene involved many extras, and despite their choreographed moves, could she handle so many opponents in one take?
In the frame, Ruan Qiu swiftly drew her sword, piercing the chest of a demonic cultivator, her once gentle face now stern. “Retreat! If you advance any further, don’t blame me for being ruthless!”
The demonic cultivators, shocked by the sudden attack, initially hesitated. But seeing Ruan Qiu, seemingly delicate and unknown in the martial world, they didn’t take her seriously and charged again.
Ruan Qiu held her sword with one hand, fighting them off. The extras, not taking the scene seriously, thought the fight would require multiple takes, as any misplaced move would mean starting over. Detailed-oriented scenes like this couldn’t afford flaws without attracting criticism, and the meticulous director wouldn’t compromise just because Ruan Qiu was beautiful…
Huh?
The lead extra found his prop hammer precisely knocked out of his hand, and before he could react, the blood pack on his waist was punctured.
Quickly biting the blood capsule in his mouth, he fell, eyes open, watching the scene unfold.
Ruan Qiu’s sword moved so swiftly the extras barely saw it, yet felt their blood packs burst, prompting them to fall one by one. Ruan Qiu controlled her pace, starting fast but gradually slowing, visibly exhausted.
The remaining extras, knowing the climax was near, swarmed her, stabbing her waist in the chaos. Ruan Qiu stumbled, pain flickering across her face, yet she continued fighting.
Finally, the demonic cultivators were defeated, and Ruan Qiu collapsed, her loosened hair ribbon falling, her hair gently blowing in the wind.
She coughed blood, and the male lead rushed into the frame, crying out for his senior sister, kneeling beside her, trembling and helpless.
Ruan Qiu softly told him, “Senior Sister… is fine. I’m just a bit tired… From now on, you must protect everyone.”
The male lead had barely finished saying, “Senior Sister, don’t die,” when Ruan Qiu smiled gently and closed her eyes.
The male lead burst into loud sobs, startling the director, who quickly yelled, “Cut!”
The director scolded the male lead, “Why are you crying so loudly? You’re supposed to be cold-hearted, remember?”
The male lead, sniffling, replied, “I-I couldn’t help it…”
Ruan Qiu’s performance was so convincing he genuinely felt like his gentle senior sister had died because of his near-fall into darkness, overwhelming him with guilt.
The others, initially saddened, couldn’t help but chuckle.
Ruan Qiu also couldn’t hold back a smile, redoing the scene with the male lead, and hearing the director announce the take was good.
The extras, wide-eyed, exchanged glances.
This was the easiest fight scene they’d ever filmed?
The director, relieved, smiled. He and Qin Shuangyu had been right—Ruan Qiu was perfect for this role!
Excited, the director wanted to give Ruan Qiu more scenes. “Ruan Qiu, would you like to shoot more scenes? I can add some flashbacks for the male lead…”
“No need,” Ruan Qiu shook her head. “I have to participate in the third episode of ‘Please Fall in Love with Me’ tomorrow and won’t have much time after that.”
The director, hearing her polite refusal, nodded regretfully, “Alright, I look forward to working with you again.”
Ruan Qiu smiled at him, changed out of her costume, and left the set, ready to rest before heading to the third episode’s filming location the next day.
