Female Partner Became Popular in a Love Show - Chapter 142
Ruan Qiu touched her cheek and quietly said, “There’s nothing to see.”
“Who says?” Xue Wu noticed that despite her awkwardness, Ruan Qiu was still willing to respond. This eased his tension significantly, and he continued with a smile, “Teacher Ruan is so beautiful; everyone wants to see her.”
Ruan Qiu blinked and didn’t respond.
She fell silent for two seconds, decided to cut through the confusion, and directly asked Xue Wu, “Do you like me?”
Xue Wu’s breath hitched.
He hadn’t expected Ruan Qiu to be so straightforward, and for a moment he was taken aback. He slowly lowered his hand and met Ruan Qiu’s serious gaze.
Though they were separated by a screen, the distance felt incredibly close. In Ruan Qiu’s eyes, he saw his own reflection. Xue Wu couldn’t help but recall the first night they met, when Ruan Qiu had looked at him with that seemingly soft yet firmly determined gaze, urging him to keep going.
Since then, every time he looked at Ruan Qiu, he felt an overwhelming sense of relaxation—something he had never experienced before.
But now, as he gazed at Ruan Qiu, he was so nervous that his hands trembled, afraid of saying the wrong word.
After a few seconds of silence, Ruan Qiu noticed that Xue Wu still hadn’t spoken, her brow slightly furrowing. She began to feel like she had her answer and was unenthusiastically preparing to hang up the video call.
Though she couldn’t quite figure out what was making her unhappy.
Promoting was indeed just promoting; what the seniors said was right—promotion couldn’t involve genuine feelings…
“Um.”
Xue Wu finally came back to his senses and said, his voice trembling, “I like you.”
Ruan Qiu’s hand froze.
“I like you.” Xue Wu repeated, looking at Ruan Qiu with the same earnest expression. “It’s not just for show; it’s a genuine liking. I want to marry you.”
Ruan Qiu was stunned for two seconds.
Then she suddenly knocked her phone, which was propped up, over, causing a loud clatter.
Covering her mouth, Ruan Qiu’s entire face turned bright red, the confession echoing in her ears. Before her head could heat up any further, she jumped up in a panic, rushed into the kitchen, and splashed cold water on her face, trying to calm down.
The direct question had ricocheted back to her, amplifying the impact. Ruan Qiu took a deep breath and another, then returned to her table, still with droplets of water on her face. With one finger, she quietly lifted her turned-over phone to meet Xue Wu’s anxious gaze.
She silently sat at the table, her eyes wandering.
Xue Wu had already figured out her answer from her reaction. Unable to hold back, he let out a small laugh as he watched Ruan Qiu, who resembled a startled cat, look up and quickly down again. He thought that if he said anything more, Ruan Qiu might just explode from embarrassment, so he kindly returned to a safe position, gently telling her, “No matter if Teacher Ruan likes me or not, I will always like you.”
“Teacher Ruan doesn’t need to feel troubled about it and doesn’t have to give me an answer right away.” Xue Wu continued, “Of course, whenever Teacher Ruan wants to tell me her thoughts, I’m always here to listen. I just hope you can treat me like before and not avoid me. Is that okay?”
Ruan Qiu nodded absently. It wasn’t until Xue Wu hung up the call that she let out a breath, throwing herself onto the sofa and wrapping herself in a ball as she reflected on Xue Wu’s words.
It’s fine; things can stay the same as before.
Staring at the ceiling of her home, Ruan Qiu couldn’t help but think how nice it would be if their captain were still around. He was adept at matters of love and would always share stories of how he pursued his wife. If she asked the captain for advice, he would surely tell her exactly what to do.
As she thought about it, Ruan Qiu’s mind drifted back to when she was clearing levels in the Infinite Flow World.
When she entered that world, she had just turned eighteen, and her first dungeon was rumored to have the highest death rate for newcomers. Fortunately, the captain was there in that dungeon, saving her, and from then on, she joined their small team, fighting alongside them and rapidly growing.
But the path of growth wasn’t so smooth from the start. Back then, Ruan Qiu was young and naive, often being deceived. There were several close calls where she nearly got pulled into danger, almost losing her life.
The captain used to say she had a smart head but only focused on completing tasks, failing to handle interpersonal relationships. He warned that sooner or later, she’d get sold out and be the one counting the money.
At the time, Ruan Qiu didn’t take the captain’s words to heart. She believed that as long as she had her teammates around, she would never be betrayed.
However, as time passed, teammates died one after another in various dungeons, forcing her to fight alone and encounter more people and monsters. Yet she had never met anyone like Xue Wu.
When she first saw Xue Wu, he appeared lifeless. She mistakenly thought he was a zombie and later assumed he was a vampire. Looking back now, Xue Wu had, before the first episode ended, been in a state of despair about life.
With each meeting, she could sense Xue Wu’s growing desire to live. Recently, after learning about his past, she understood the reasons behind his earlier state. Her first reaction was heartache, followed by a rational consideration of how to help him out of that situation.
Ruan Qiu sat up from the sofa, feeling she must indeed like Xue Wu.
To verify her feelings, she took out her phone and opened the CP thread she hadn’t checked before.
Then, she ended up staying up all night.
Also burning the midnight oil was a video editor known for making trashy films.
Fans were messaging him, demanding to quickly release the edit of the third episode of “Please Fall in Love With Me”, but the editor uniformly replied, “This episode isn’t long, and it’s all high energy; there’s nothing to cut.”
As the fans turned to look at others’ compiled edits, the editor glanced nervously at his folder, unsure whether to release his own video.
After hesitating for a moment, he finally hit the send button.
