Ruan Qiu blinked, taking the materials Sister Lin handed her. When her gaze passed over the photo of the current leader of the Martial Arts Association, she froze.

“This person…” Ruan Qiu found her voice trembling. “Does he have any relatives?”

Sister Lin was puzzled by Ruan Qiu’s reaction. Seeing the redness in her eyes, she quickly became anxious and asked, “Is he a family member? A friend? It wouldn’t be your ex-boyfriend, would it?”

“No, none of that.” Ruan Qiu blinked, suppressing the redness in her eyes, and replied, “He looks a lot like my master.”

“The one who taught you martial arts?” Sister Lin asked.

Ruan Qiu nodded. “Yes.”

He was her teammate who had already died in the Infinite Flow World.

Ruan Qiu added, “I want to participate in this variety show.”

She needed to understand why someone resembling her deceased teammate existed in this world, sharing the same surname.

If her assumptions were correct, then this world…

Sister Lin nodded in understanding, quickly beginning to make arrangements. She informed Ruan Qiu of the recording time and location. Before leaving, she glanced at Ruan Qiu with some concern and stepped out, casually calling Xue Wu to discreetly mention that Ruan Qiu seemed off.

Upon hearing this, Xue Wu immediately video called Ruan Qiu to confirm that she wasn’t as emotionally unstable as Sister Lin had suggested. Once reassured, he ate breakfast while video chatting with Ruan Qiu like usual, and neither mentioned last night’s events nor the trending topic.

Ruan Qiu felt guilty, while Xue Wu was already prepared for this.

The day after their first meeting, he had gotten all of Ruan Qiu’s previous works and related news from Lin Hong. After filming the first episode with her, he had fully confirmed that the current Ruan Qiu was entirely different from the previous one.

Initially, he hadn’t thought too deeply about it, assuming perhaps that Ruan Qiu’s personality had dramatically changed in the past six months. A more severe scenario of split personality wasn’t out of the question. But as he learned more about Ruan Qiu, hearing her peculiar terminology and observing her unconventional thought processes, he began to reject the notion of any mental disorders.

Ruan Qiu was Ruan Qiu—unique, radiant, deserving of everyone’s affection, and should never be slandered by anyone.

He preferred to believe the seemingly absurd comment that Ruan Qiu had crossed over, feeling lucky to have met her and to temporarily be by her side.

As he thought this, a sudden panic gripped him. During his third internal struggle, he finally couldn’t help but ask, “Are you going to leave? Leave this world?”

Ruan Qiu paused, slowly putting down her chopsticks.

She answered, a bit dazed, “I… I’m not sure.”

At that moment, Xue Wu felt as if all the blood in his body had frozen.

He didn’t know how long it took for him to find his voice again, and he hoarsely asked Ruan Qiu, “…What do you mean? Why is there uncertainty?”

Ruan Qiu didn’t know how to explain it to Xue Wu at first.

Xue Wu had already stood up from the table. He picked up his phone, the camera shook a couple of times before finally fixing on the ceiling, and Ruan Qiu heard him say, “Wait a moment, I’ll be right over.”

This matter indeed required a face-to-face talk. Ruan Qiu thought for a moment and didn’t hang up the video call. She held the phone and tidied up her living room a little before wrapping herself in a small blanket and sitting on the sofa to wait for Xue Wu.

On the way to Ruan Qiu’s place, Xue Wu kept thinking about what he would do if she really left.

He had just confirmed that Ruan Qiu liked him a little, and now he was getting the news that she might leave. It felt as if heaven was playing a joke on him. He could reconcile with his previous misfortunes and forget those awful things, but he absolutely wouldn’t allow anyone to take away the happiness he was about to reach.

Meanwhile, Ruan Qiu was also pondering how to explain everything to Xue Wu. She was organizing her words when she soon heard a knock at the door. She walked over to open it, and just as she opened the door, Xue Wu enveloped her in an embrace.

She caught a whiff of the faint scent of moisture on him, feeling a bit cold, realizing it was raining outside and that Xue Wu must have rushed up without an umbrella.

Noticing that Xue Wu’s body trembled slightly while holding her, Ruan Qiu paused for a moment and gently stroked his back, embracing him tightly until their skin warmed up against each other. Only then did Xue Wu calm down and slowly release her.

Ruan Qiu took Xue Wu’s hand and led him to sit by the sofa, then poured him a cup of hot water.

Holding the warm cup, Xue Wu took a moment to relax. The fear of being on the verge of falling off a cloud slowly dissipated. He eagerly looked at Ruan Qiu, hoping she would tell him everything would be alright, yet he also dreaded hearing the news he feared the most.

The room fell into an unbearable silence.

After a while, Ruan Qiu said to Xue Wu, “You should know that I’m not from this world, right?”

Xue Wu nodded, his voice a bit hoarse, “I know.”

Since Xue Wu could hear her words and felt no discomfort, Ruan Qiu felt a sense of reassurance.

This world was different from the Infinite Flow World. In the Infinite Flow World, they couldn’t disclose their identities as taskers, but in this world, she could say she wasn’t from here. Therefore, she should be able to share everything with Xue Wu without restrictions.

“It’s like this,” Ruan Qiu gestured, “The world I originally came from was just like yours—a normal world. Then one day, a system suddenly appeared, claiming to be an Infinite Flow system that could give people like us, who were about to die, a chance to survive, but we had to fight for it ourselves.”

“At that time, I was very ill, but I’m fine now; I’ve had a check-up,” Ruan Qiu said. “I really wanted to live, so I agreed to the demands of the Infinite Flow system and entered the Infinite Flow World, where I stayed for ten years.”

“In the Infinite Flow World, there are many instances, each filled with terrifying monsters, like zombies and vampires. As long as we successfully obtain the items required for our tasks, we can leave that instance and move on to the next one. If we clear all the instances, we can gain a second chance at life.”

“I cleared them, and then I came here.”
