She Raised Zombies in the Apocalypse - Chapter 31
Zhang Tao was so scared that he pulled Lin Ran’s clothes. “Sister Lin, let’s go quickly.”
Brother Ji was blatantly protecting his interests here. Who dared to provoke him?
Once again, he cursed himself for agreeing to come out with this woman.
What a hassle!
“Leave? Her stupid cat set me on fire and you still want me to leave?” Lin Ran pushed Zhang Tao aside, her shoulders emanating a layer of frost due to her intense anger.
In a flash, San Wu took a step back. The woman before her brought a strong sense of unease.
To secure the position of Deputy Fortress Master, Lin Ran was certainly not one to idle away her days.
Apart from the fact that the Fortress Master liked her and wanted to pursue her, Lin Ran herself possessed formidable strength.
She was entirely different from the cryokinetic ability holders San Wu encountered earlier.
As she raised her hand, the feet of San wu standing on the ground were chilled to the bone with piercing pain.
Seeing that she was about to strike again, Ji Lingbai sneered coldly, preparing to jump down from San Wu’s back.
But he didn’t expect someone to act even faster than him.
A figure swiftly bypassed San Wu and rushed to the doorway, raising a hand high and delivering a slap that unleashed a gust of wind.
“Bam! Take that, you damned!”
With heightened emotions, the overseer charged forward.
In front of Lin Ran, a thick ice wall formed, confident that even with zombies and a high-level mutant animal on the other side, her limited combat power could not break through her barrier.
Yet in the next moment, a pale hand pierced through the ice wall, and a fierce slap landed squarely on her head.
Lin Ran was caught off guard and sent flying, rolling on the ground in pain until her vision darkened and she completely passed out.
“King Zombie?”
Zhang Tao didn’t bother to help Lin Ran at all; instead, he was shaken by the zombie in front of him.
This ability was definitely that of a King Zombie, and perhaps a formidable one among them.
No matter how highly he regarded himself, he couldn’t have imagined it was actually a Leader Zombie. After all, regardless of the size of their territory, once they reached the level of a Leader Zombie, they would only be nurturing high-end forces within the fortress. Who could have expected one to nest in such a remote and abandoned place?
“I’m sorry, I’m sorry.” Zhang Tao saw the Leader Zombie eager to strike again and feared he might actually kill someone. He quickly stepped in front with a pained expression. “Miss, I apologize on our behalf. We won’t claim the house.”
Would he dare?
Didn’t he see the lack of warmth in his boss’s eyes looking at him?
San Wu reached out towards Zhang Tao. “Food in exchange for her.”
This was the unspoken rule in territorial disputes. The three bearded men who witnessed the entire scene from the sidelines left with regretful tears in their eyes.
They had once been treated the same way.
“Oh, yes, of course, of course.” Zhang Tao glanced again at Ji Lingbai.
He discreetly gestured to him, indicating they should discuss something. Come over, bro! There’s something to talk about!
Ji Lingbai looked at his gestures and leaned against San Wu, slowly turning his head away.
It was not that he wouldn’t leave! It was just that he still needed to observe San Wu.
Zhang Tao understood. Was he not planning to leave with him now?
He obediently went to the vehicle and brought out a large bag of things.
“Here’s five pounds of pork belly, a bag of chicken legs, and oh, two special goodies.” Zhang Tao’s attitude towards San Wu was quite good, after all, she was his big brother’s woman, different from the one lying on the ground.
San Wu stood behind the Leader Zombie and glanced at him, then her eyes suddenly lit up.
“These things, you can’t find them anywhere outside now. Fry a few slices of meat, and the aroma is irresistible.” Zhang Tao stuffed everything into San Wu’s hands.
He was right. Those two good things were indeed two whole bulbs of garlic.
These were specially taken out by Lin Ran from the laboratory of the First Fortress.
San Wu could confirm that these two were residents of another fortress, or at least of a high status.
Her face showed visible joy, which relieved Zhang Tao.
Brother Ji should be satisfied now, and later he could even let him have a taste of the garlic paste with meat.
San Wu took the items, closed the door, and had no intention of leaving any for Brother Ji. She dug a hole and buried the garlic bulbs in the soil.
San Wu chuckled as she watered them.
This was garlic!
The laboratory had put a lot of effort into preserving these items. She had heard that researchers in various fortresses had given up trying to improve the genetics of the purple soil, instead focusing on hydroponic cultivation.
But water now wasn’t the same as water back then. Even adjusting nutrient solutions in the current environment wasn’t easy. In the early years, San Wu was sure no one had succeeded in cultivation.
Now… who knew how their research was going.
For humans, it wasn’t about how to plant on a large scale anymore, but rather about finding a way to plant successfully.
If she had trustworthy people in the major fortresses, she could have them bring back some of the plants she cultivated for research.
But she absolutely wouldn’t rush over there now like a fool, or she might end up being dissected.
When it comes to human nature, who could say for sure?
Without combat power of her own, she dared not trust anyone easily.
San Wu placed the meat in a cool corner of the house.
She turned to look at the black panther nestled defiantly in the corner, but didn’t try to persuade it. Instead, she scooped out a ladle of meat soup and placed several large chunks of meat in front of it.
The door outside was knocked again. She thought it was Zhang Tao who returned, but upon opening it, she found it was the three bearded men.
