She Raised Zombies in the Apocalypse - Chapter 32
San Wu frowned, “What is it?”
The bearded men, already wary of her, were now even more so knowing she had a powerful zombie by her side.
“Uh, we wanted to ask you if you know about the recruitment at the Eighteenth Fortress,” the bearded man hesitated. “They say they’ve cultivated bean sprouts and are organizing teams.”
San Wu stared at him intently.
The bearded man felt too embarrassed to continue.
With such a high combat force around her, teaming up with them would be a benefit.
“If you don’t mind, we could join forces,” the second man spoke up when his brother couldn’t continue.
“Sorry, I don’t team up,” San Wu said, shutting the door.
She would definitely go to that recruitment; according to Jiang Tian, Wang Haosheng would be there too.
She wouldn’t miss such a good opportunity.
Suppressing the hatred and murderous intent in her heart, she looked up at the black panther, which had been standing tall.
It was now burying its entire face into a small basin, eating everything inside, and licking the basin clean.
The black panther finally understood why the boss was following this woman.
The energy here was particularly beneficial, more than hunting and eating raw meat, and it was delicious too.
The Leader Zombie wasn’t happy. If he had known, he wouldn’t have brought it along. He thought it was food, but it was here to share the food.
The black panther no longer cared about the Leader Zombie; its eager gaze swept over San Wu.
“Don’t look at me; I don’t have any more. Listen to me and work hard, and you’ll get to eat more.” San Wu, having raised a cat, knew well the true nature of felines.
But the black panther was easy to coax and very obedient.
It pawed at San Wu’s leg and rubbed its head against her to show friendliness.
Their thoughts were simpler than humans; as long as there were benefits, they were satisfied. Who would oppose the one who provided their food?
San Wu stroked its head, feeling emotional again.
Indeed, felines were felines, and Ji Lingbai was Ji Lingbai. Compared to this, felines were unbelievably obedient.
She stroked the black panther twice more, feeling delighted.
The next day she would ride the black panther to hunt.
She was so happy petting it that she didn’t notice the pair of eyes watching her from behind.
Ji Lingbai, seeing her happily petting another cat, unhappily walked outside.
“Xiao Bai, where are you going?”
San Wu asked, but Ji Lingbai didn’t respond, leaping onto the wall and jumping out.
San Wu wasn’t worried about his safety. He could blow up a fortress; what was there to worry about?
As for the midnight snack… it seemed there would be a little extra that night.
Ji Lingbai left, not understanding why he was upset.
After thinking about it, he decided it must be because that idiot Zhang Tao brought that woman over and got in his way.
As he walked around a corner, the cat was gone, replaced by an excessively handsome man.
Ji Lingbai was of mixed race, with a high nose bridge and chiseled features, combined with Oriental genes that softened his sharpness, perfectly highlighting his features.
His eyes were especially beautiful.
Unfortunately, those eyes were not pleased at the moment.
Following a trail of marks, he arrived at a detached house. The vehicle was parked outside, and the mutant horse was munching its dinner.
Inside the house, Lin Ran was going mad.
“Why didn’t you kill that woman?! What is that zombie of hers?”
“Even if it’s a powerful king, I was just caught off guard.” She had indeed been careless, getting slapped unconscious unexpectedly. “And you gave her things? Zhang Tao, who do you think you are, making decisions to send those things out?”
“I’m going to find that woman right now.”
Lin Ran, usually a cold Queen in the fortress, was now furious, losing face so suddenly and severely, turning her from a cold beauty to a shrew.
“I…”
Before she could finish her sentence, a figure effortlessly leaped in from outside, locking eyes with a pair she knew and missed well.
Lin Ran swallowed the rest of her words, her expression changing instantly to a smile as she excitedly walked over. “Ji Lingbai, you… you’re okay? Why haven’t you returned to the fortress?”
Ji Lingbai looked at her coldly. “Why are you the one out looking for me? Where are the others in my team?”
In the First Fortress, the most powerful and influential was not the master. The top fighters were all in Ji Lingbai’s private team, which even the master wouldn’t offend.
Moreover, Ji Lingbai was notoriously unapproachable and had a bad temper. If it weren’t for his disdain for the administrative hassle of being the master, he would have taken the position long ago.
But since the top combatants in the fortress were under his command, it didn’t make much difference whether he was the master or not.
Lin Ran had been applying to join Ji Lingbai’s team since last year but had never been accepted.
“What? Are you unhappy I’m here?” Lin Ran smiled, her pursuit of Ji Lingbai passionate and overt, obvious to anyone.
“Yes.” Ji Lingbai’s voice was cold, “I am unhappy.”
Lin Ran’s smile collapsed instantly.
She was dissatisfied with Ji Lingbai’s words but didn’t dare to get angry at him, so she decided to vent her frustration on someone else.
“Zhang Tao, come with me to find that woman.” If she went all out, she might not lose.
To her surprise, Zhang Tao retorted, “I follow Brother Ji. I’m in Brother Ji’s team.”
Zhang Tao, who wasn’t very strong in combat, thought to himself that on the way over, he’d been calling her “Sister Lin” because he had no one to back him up. Did she really think he considered her a sister? Clearly, she was out of touch.
