She Raised Zombies in the Apocalypse - Chapter 50
“Follow me out, and you’ll see. Don’t worry, we have somewhere to go,” Wang Hai suppressed his boiling blood, saying, “We’ll settle this score with the First Fortress eventually!”
Although he couldn’t kill Ji Lingbai, Wang Hai took out the thermal weapons he had stored in his space.
A large explosion ripped through a group of mutant dogs, leaving a bloody mess.
Many ability holders were also injured in the blast.
“Go!” Wang Hai shouted, leading his people in a desperate charge.
“Brothers, there’s a beast carriage at the exchange point outside the fortress. Let’s head there first.”
Wang Hai led his men, fighting tooth and nail, losing a quarter of his confidants before they reached the exchange point.
Seeing the exchange point’s full view, Wang Hai could no longer contain his fury, his face twisted with rage and veins bulging.
“Where’s my beast carriage?! Where is it?!”
The beast carriage was currently carrying a group of odd creatures in a wild dash, but Wang Hai didn’t know that.
Ji Lingbai also saw Wang Hai running out. Being a fortress master, he was indeed skilled.
“Ji, we’re here.”
His team members had arrived.
“The Fortress Master is overseeing our home base, letting us lead the charge,” Zhang Tao, a chubby boy, joined them again. “Ji, what are you looking at?”
Ji Lingbai was watching the beast carriage madly speeding on the other side of the fortress.
“What’s so interesting about the beast carriage? It’s probably some refugees caught in the chaos.”
Zhang Tao was excited, “Ji, Wang Hai is escaping. If you lead us to chase him, we’ll definitely catch him!”
Ji Lingbai was very fast, and his unique flying ability rendered Wang Hai’s hidden thermal weapons ineffective.
Ji Lingbai knew he should pursue Wang Hai.
But why did he see Da Hei running in front of that beast carriage?
“Shit!”
Zhang Tao suddenly shouted, “Are the zombies from the Thorn Forest going mad?”
A large group of zombies was running down from the Thorn Forest. Speedy zombies carried slower ones on their backs, and mutant beasts had zombies riding them. They charged forward, ignoring the fierce battle in the forest, each exuding a deadly determination.
The massive zombie horde merged with the speeding beast carriage.
Ji Lingbai’s sharp eyes caught a glimpse of a familiar flower through the carriage window.
If San Wu was there, the zombies wouldn’t be going berserk.
The mutant plants wouldn’t be running wild either.
“Ji, don’t hesitate, go after him!” Zhang Tao urged, only to see Ji Lingbai’s wings flutter as he took off in the opposite direction.
Before he could follow, he realized something was wrong.
“Hey! Ji, you’re going the wrong way!”
A team member pulled Zhang Tao back, “Ji must have his reasons. We’ll chase Wang Hai, keeping a safe distance and following closely.”
Ji Lingbai was faster than Da Hei and the others. As he approached, he heard San Ling angrily shouting to the small group inside the beast carriage, “The old woman took San Wu, ground split open, couldn’t catch up. Xiao Luobo went ahead. Follow the trail, we’ll catch up and smash their heads.”
Ji Lingbai immediately knew who the old woman was.
Controlling the ground and traveling with an old woman, Ji Lingbai’s expression darkened. The people from the Second Fortress left decisively, aiming for San Wu.
Xia Sheng must have noticed something different about San Wu.
San Wu couldn’t go to the Second Fortress.
A flash of lightning streaked by, and San Ling looked up at the sky, seeing nothing.
San Wu finally woke up from the jolting.
As she opened her eyes and saw the unfamiliar carriage roof, her heart sank.
“You didn’t…” Xia Sheng began.
San Wu, already on edge, kicked Xia Sheng in the face as soon as she opened her eyes.
Xia Sheng didn’t expect someone could simultaneously open their eyes and kick, catching him squarely and nearly breaking his high-bridged nose.
“You son of a…!”
San Wu quickly sat up, glaring at the two people in front of her.
She recognized Xia Sheng but not the old woman, though she remembered the face that had hit her.
“Little girl, don’t be nervous.” The old woman smiled.
San Wu sneered, “You knock me out and throw me in a carriage, and you tell me not to be nervous?”
Xia Sheng glanced at the old woman. As he had said before, this person wouldn’t be easily persuaded.
“The old lady was in a hurry to recruit talent.” She wasn’t angry, as the person was already in front of her.
“I know, it’s a common tactic for big fortress managers. They capture someone, display absolute power, and then act respectful and inviting.” San Wu’s eyes were sharp and cold, “You want to hit me with a stick and then give me a sweet date, but I don’t like sweet dates.”
“Where are my zombie and my mutant beast?” San Wu’s eyes were icy.
Her lack of personal strength was her only weakness, but the old woman’s overwhelming power was one reason for her defeat.
Additionally, with Da Hei and San Ling not by her side, ordinary zombies were not enough.
She had been too eager for revenge and had been careless.
“No rush, you’re still angry,” Granny wiped her mouth. “You haven’t been to other fortresses, have you? The Eighteenth Fortress is nothing in comparison. You’ll like it once you see it.”
“You talk as if you know me inside out,” San Wu leaned against the wall of the carriage, her mind racing with thoughts.
How could she escape right under their noses?
Did they know her secrets? How much did they know?
