She Raised Zombies in the Apocalypse - Chapter 54
“Master, what are you doing?” Xiao Luobo asked, puzzled. “Where are we going?”
San Wu’s face was grim. “We’re running away.”
Xiao Luobo was taken aback. “Aren’t we waiting for Brother Bai?”
“We can’t wait. I thought he was just a cat, but he’s from the First Fortress. He knows all about my abilities. Xiao Luobo, why do you think he saved me? Would it be because of my unique personality?”
San Wu stuffed Xiao Luobo into her pocket. “I know it’s because of my abilities, not my charm. He avoided eye contact and didn’t want to take me back right away, which means he has his own plans. I’m not going back to the First Fortress, so we’re going our own way.”
“Damn, this door won’t open. We’re going through the window.”
The window was a bit high, and as she climbed out, she got stuck.
“Don’t worry, Xiao Luobo. I’ve found a great piece of land nearby. We’ll check it out first. Ji Lingbai helped us, so we’ll repay the favor once we’re settled.”
San Wu walked in the dark, using a long stick to guide her while Xiao Luobo scouted ahead, avoiding zombies and moving towards the Second Fortress.
She suddenly remembered she hadn’t left any markers for her zombies and was worried they might fight with the fortress people. Her face darkened.
If her zombies fought with the fortress people, they would surely perish.
Thinking this, she quickened her pace.
As she approached the fortress, seeing the bright lights and hearing the zombies’ roars, her heart sank.
“Master, don’t go. Let Xiao Luobo check first. It’s too bright over there.” Xiao Luobo darted ahead, but the stench hit her immediately.
Xiao Luobo butted her head against San Ling’s leg, who looked down in surprise.
“Where’s the master?”
Xiao Luobo bounced, indicating they should follow.
San Ling shouted, “Stop fighting, retreat!”
He ran a few steps, realizing the red-dressed female zombie was still standing there. After thinking for a moment, he hoisted her onto his shoulder and ran.
The fortress’s long-range ability holders, now in protective gear, finally arrived.
“Are the lights ready? Remember, just drive the zombies away,” Granny Hua instructed. “Killing them will provoke them, and it’s not advantageous for us at night without knowing their numbers.”
Barely cleaned up, Xia Sheng looked incredulously at Granny Hua. “Granny! Why just drive them away?”
Granny Hua sighed, “If they’re not strongly attacking, we shouldn’t provoke them. We need to minimize our casualties.”
Humans were already losing numbers.
Xia Sheng: “… Because you didn’t get hit with the poop, right?”
But…
“Where are the zombies? Where did they go?”
The wind ability holders, ready to show their skills, were stunned by the empty Thorn Forest.
The leading ability holder’s hand holding the spotlight trembled.
A nearby man, annoyed, smacked him on the head. “What’s with the shaking? This is a small incident. Zombies’ prank! How can you be a fortress warrior acting like this?”
Yes, everyone thought it was a prank by the zombies.
These zombies were unlike any they had encountered before; they had a sense of humor.
“No, no,” the frightened man cried. “I saw a sunflower shaking its butt at me!”
The man beside him sighed in exasperation.
See? The kid was hallucinating from the stench.
From afar, San Wu saw San Ling carrying something red.
A strong stench wafted over as they approached.
After all, it was a risky tactic.
“San Ling, what did you bring back?”
San Wu didn’t mind the smell of everyone.
When she saw what San Ling was carrying, she slapped him on the back. “Why did you bring someone else’s zombie? Take her back!”
She thought that San Ling had taken a zombie from the Second Fortress.
San Ling was displeased. “She’s wild!”
“Even if she’s wild, you can’t just bring her home!” San Wu sighed.
San Ling was stubborn. “She’s injured.”
“And…pretty!”
San Wu: “…” You zombie, do you even understand beauty? Do zombies have an aesthetic sense?
“Forget it, let’s go.”
She glanced at the female zombie in the red dress, noticing numerous wounds on her body. She seemed too weak to move, lying quietly on San Ling’s shoulder without making a sound.
“San Ling, be careful. Don’t let her attack you without noticing.”
“By the way, did you have a fight with the people from the Second Fortress?” San Wu turned and asked.
“No, no.” Everyone shook their heads vigorously. “We! Friendly!”
San Wu smiled, saying, “You guys are quite well-behaved.”
In a good mood, she climbed onto the beast cart they had brought. “Let’s go. I’ll take you to a place.”
They might have to move again this time.
When Ji Lingbai returned, he found the room empty.
There was a note left by San Wu.
“Great kindness is not expressed in words. The reward will be delivered to the First fyortress soon.”
Ji Lingbai frowned and looked out the window.
Hanging from the jagged edge of the window was a piece of dark blue denim fabric.
Ji Lingbai: “…” He could imagine San Wu struggling to climb through the window and getting caught.
Ji Lingbai stared speechlessly at the piece of fabric for a while, thinking that her group of zombies must have found her by now. He decided to head back to the Eighteenth Fortress.
“Captain Ji!”
