She Raised Zombies in the Apocalypse - Chapter 61
The boys immediately clammed up.
But why did the smell of meat waft in from outside?
Soon, zombies who had already eaten brought two bowls of meat soup to the guards.
They avoided eating in front of the boys, but when they returned, full and satisfied, and saw the boys trying to shrink into the wall, they snorted disdainfully, as if saying, “We don’t want to eat you.”
After eating their fill, the zombies were quite picky.
San Wu didn’t rush to question the boys. She slowly simmered chicken soup in the pot, adding finely chopped ginger. When she lifted the lid, the aroma wafted out.
This chicken had eaten plenty of grass and garden vegetables. A sip of the soup had more energy than vegetables.
Zang Fei, still dazed, sipped some soup with the help of San Ling.
San Wu steamed a pot of potatoes for her zombies, serving them with chicken soup and garlic shrimp. As soon as she tasted the potatoes, she began to crave rice.
People needed proper meals!
She had stored plenty of soybeans and planned to brew a batch of soy sauce.
After finishing her meal, San Wu felt an itch in her hands but paid it no mind. She left the dishes for Jiang Tian and Chen Yibi to wash and went to the room where the boys were tied.
Seeing her, the boys tensed up.
This woman!
The one who commanded all these zombies.
Their eyes landed on the zombies who were practically wagging their tails at San Wu.
Look!
These zombies acted like dogs around her.
The boys inwardly sneered.
“You should know why you’re tied up,” San Wu said, deciding to test them.
The boys exchanged glances, and the older one tentatively said, “Is it because… we looked at you in the zombie horde?”
San Wu: “…” What kind of people did the Second Fortress send?
She twitched her lips, quickly regaining composure. “Your second fortress is responsible for the wounds on our Zang Fei, the female zombie in the red dress.”
San Ling had mentioned that Zang Fei had a past grudge with the Second Fortress.
San Wu closely watched their expressions, knowing the first reaction is the most genuine.
The boys were first confused, then angry.
“You think we attacked that female zombie?” They spat angrily.
“Isn’t that right?” San Wu raised an eyebrow. “You spy on us every day. Do you think I don’t know?”
“It’s not true! We saw her fighting two leader zombies!”
“And even if we were spying, we couldn’t beat your zombies,” the other boy fumed. “No one from our fortress has come out, and we wouldn’t hurt your zombie!”
What a mess! They were wrongly accused!
San Wu leaned back in her chair. “You saw Zang Fei fighting two leader zombies?”
“Yes, she used to lead the zombies in the forest near us. She stopped bringing underlings recently, probably because another zombie took her place.”
“She was probably trying to reclaim her position but failed against two opponents.”
San Wu pondered this for a moment, then stood up and walked out.
“If you know so much, lead the way!”
She didn’t capture them just because of Zang Fei. It was also a warning to the Second Fortress to stop snooping around her territory. Once or twice, she could tolerate it. More than that, people would think she was an easy target.
The forest wasn’t far, and San Wu wasn’t worried about something happening in her place while she was away.
She glanced at Zang Fei still lying on the bed, noticing her tightly clenched fist.
Curious, San Wu pried her hand open.
A deep purple crystal core fell out. Deep purple indicated a high-level zombie, at least a commander or king level.

Granny Hua angrily hit Ding Fang with her cane. “You’ve gone mad with joy!”
“What were you supposed to be spying on?”
Her question made the brothers glance at each other.
They had intended to tell Granny Hua about San Wu tying them up, but now, looking at the bag of crystal cores, their hearts felt a rush of warmth.
The combat power at the Second Fortress was indeed higher than San Wu’s village, being a large human stronghold, unlike San Wu’s small settlement.
However, more people meant more rules.
Large-scale brawls like this were rare in the Second Fortress unless absolutely necessary, with more emphasis on small team actions.
Even if it happened, the brothers wouldn’t be included, and if they were, they wouldn’t get the good stuff.
“Spying?” Ding Yuan’s voice rose, “Spying is great! Granny, remember to call us for such good opportunities next time.”
Granny Hua was at a loss for words.
“What were you doing following her around instead of spying?” Xia Zhiqing’s gaze fell on the two brothers.
Seeing the Fortress Master, Ding Fang swallowed nervously and said, “Her zombies were being bullied by other zombies, so we went to settle the score. We knew where the zombies were, so she asked us to lead the way.”
Ding Yuan nodded, “Yes, by helping her, we can improve relations with her and the fortress, just as Granny Hua advised.”
Xia Zhiqing gave them a long look, making them uneasy, before shifting his gaze.
“You two, return to the fortress.”
They sighed in relief, grabbed their crystal cores, and ran off.
San Wu had collected so many crystal cores that she didn’t care about losing a few, and she was busy dealing with the leader zombie anyway.
As Xia Zhiqing and Granny Hua were still talking, San Ling had already tossed Xiao San into the air, landing her right in front of the exhausted leader zombie.
With a swift kick, Xiao San got rid of the leader zombie.
