She Raised Zombies in the Apocalypse - Chapter 64
“Ah!” Someone suddenly remembered. “Didn’t we hear about someone named San Wu who fenced off a large territory? Should we inform her?”
Granny Hua paused and looked at Xia Zhiqing.
A quick thinker suggested, “We could withhold the information. When the crisis hits, she’ll have no choice but to join our fortress for protection.”
Xia Zhiqing sipped his tea. “Do you really think that will work for her?”
“Moreover, a zombie horde is a serious matter that requires united effort. We can’t afford to play tricks.”
The one who suggested it felt embarrassed.
“Alright, I’ll send someone to inform her,” Granny Hua said, standing up. “Let’s go eat. Aren’t you all hungry?”
The group was listless.
With such a significant issue weighing on them, who could eat?
Just thinking about a zombie horde made them too anxious to eat.
Granny Hua sighed, understanding their anxiety.
A psychic-type zombie leader leading a horde was indeed a daunting challenge for any fortress.
She stepped out, ready to send someone to San Wu’s village.
However, everyone balked at the task.
“No way, that place is full of zombies. We can’t go there.”
“Exactly, Granny. This isn’t confirmed yet. Maybe we don’t need to tell them. They wouldn’t want to come here anyway.”
Granny Hua felt a headache coming on.
Meanwhile, a white radish head popped up from a pile of soft soil in the corner.
Xiao Luobo, looking bewildered, wondered where she had tunneled to.
And what was this talk about a zombie horde?
Not informing his master?
With a swish, Xiao Luobo burrowed back into the ground. No need for you to say it!
The radish had heard everything!
Ultimately, the task of informing San Wu fell to Ding Fang and Ding Yuan.
They happily ran to the village, leaving Granny Hua rolling her eyes.
In the village courtyard, San Wu had set a table full of dishes. San Ling and the underlings were seated, each with their share of food.
San Wu poured herself a bowl of rich soup and raised it, her voice clear. “Everyone, thank you for your hard work in building the wall and hunting!”
“Now, let’s eat this…” She was interrupted.
Just then, Xiao Luobo returned, jumping out of the ground and saying to San Wu, “The Second Fortress says there might be a big zombie horde coming!”
San Wu froze, holding the bowl.
Xiao Luobo stood on her roots, asking, “Is this a serious matter, Master?”
“Yes, very serious,” San Wu said gravely.
Xiao Luobo became tense, and all the zombies looked at San Wu.
“So?” Xiao Luobo asked.
San Wu took a deep breath and raised her soup bowl.
“So, zombies!”
The zombies flinched.
“Let’s drink this soup! We’ll face the horde and come out safe! Cheers!”
The starving zombies, unaware of what a zombie horde meant, cheered loudly.
San Wu drank her soup heartily, contemplating the horde’s potential destruction, and made a decision.
“Since there’s a possibility of a zombie horde, starting tomorrow, we’ll double the defensive work. But! Your rations will also double! Work hard to strengthen yourselves!” San Wu knew fear wouldn’t help. Filling their stomachs was the first step to facing the challenges ahead.
“Eat up! Fill your bellies!”
The underlings went wild. They didn’t understand what a zombie horde was but knew what extra food meant.
When Ding Fang and Ding Yuan arrived, the zombies were eating.
The gatekeepers stopped them.
“We have important news!” Ding Fang said urgently. “A zombie horde is coming!”
The underlings now associated ‘zombie horde’ with extra food.
They exchanged glances, then raised their hands.
“Yay!”
They began cheering and clapping.
Ding Fang and Ding Yuan were dumbfounded. “A zombie horde! We said a zombie horde! Are you guys crazy?”
The underlings cheered even louder.
That night was destined to be a night of zombie revelry!
Ding Fang and Ding Yuan waited a while before seeing San Wu.
“The recent tremor might signal a zombie horde,” Ding Fang said, glancing at San Wu’s zombies. “Why are your zombies so happy?”
What was wrong with them?
San Wu knew why her zombies were happy. Once they understood what a zombie horde really was, they wouldn’t be so cheerful.
“Sister San Wu, what are your thoughts?” Ding Yuan asked nervously. “A zombie horde is a serious disaster. We…”
“I know,” San Wu interrupted. “Of course, we need to cooperate. I will defend my home and contribute.”
The brothers sighed in relief. “Good. Our Fortress Master has called for help from other fortresses. We’ll likely station ourselves in the southeast to preemptively deal with the horde and redirect it if necessary.”
Which meant a tough fight ahead.
San Wu sighed inwardly. It was inevitable.
After explaining, Ding Fang and Ding Yuan still lingered.
San Wu’s face fell. What now? Hoping for a free meal?
Fortunately, the underlings didn’t like the Second Fortress’s people. After some grumbling, they chased them away, restoring San Wu’s peace.
Considering the zombie horde, San Wu hurriedly purified the land beside the wall, sowed seeds, and had Jiang Tian water them thoroughly.
The thorn bushes would grow faster, though she nearly exhausted herself in the process.
