She Raised Zombies in the Apocalypse - Chapter 69
“Touch! If I don’t touch, I can’t sleep!” San Wu insisted stubbornly.
Half-kneeling on the ground, she forcefully pushed away Ji Lingbai’s hands and placed hers on his waist.
Xia Zhiqing, unable to watch any longer, suggested, “Ji Lingbai, just let her touch them. Everyone is watching.”
Ji Lingbai felt a black rage overcoming him.
You’re aware everyone’s watching, right?
“Why don’t you strip down and let her touch you?” Ji Lingbai’s voice turned icy.
“I… I’m not in that kind of relationship with her,” Xia Zhiqing responded with a gentlemanly air. “Don’t worry, I’ll have everyone go back to their tents.”
Ji Lingbai was on the verge of laughing out of frustration.
Not smiling would have been better. The moment he smiled, his wings half-extended.
Ji Lingbai: “…”
San Wu felt a warm sensation, and in her drunken state, she stroked his wings twice. “Ah, so comfortable~.”
This was the height of humiliation.
Ji Lingbai lay frozen as San Wu sprawled over him. The others quickly retreated to their tents, pretending to be blind.
Ji Lingbai lay on the ground, staring at the dark sky with San Wu on his chest. He felt deeply depressed.
He shouldn’t have been greedy for those few bites of food. If not, he wouldn’t be in this embarrassing situation with San Wu clinging to him.
He had lost all face and dignity.
His wings, evidently comfortable being stroked, fully extended, the soft feathers brushing against San Wu’s face.
San Wu rubbed her face against them, enjoying the sensation. Dazed, she lifted her head. In the moonlight, Ji Lingbai glared at her coldly.
San Wu felt captivated by his eyes, as if seeing a sky full of stars, drawing her into a small world that exploded in her heart.
Love and attraction between a man and a woman sometimes needed no practice. When the time was right, instinct would guide them to say the most romantic words.
Entranced by Ji Lingbai’s looks, San Wu, without any prior knowledge, raised her hand. Alcohol had dulled her mind but also freed it.
Her fingers traced Ji Lingbai’s eye, her voice soft and tender, “My dear~.”
A sudden wind, laden with killing intent and the smell of a beast, interrupted them.
Ji Lingbai was the first to sense the danger. He grabbed San Wu’s hand and rolled to the side.
A sharp wind passed by, a black snake shooting out from the thorny brush and missing them.
“Enemy attack!”
The sentries finally reacted. Everyone emerged from their tents, adopting their usual combat stances.
San Wu gasped, her mind still foggy, but her sense of danger sharp.
Ji Lingbai struck the black snake dead with a flash of lightning, then quickly turned to check on San Wu.
He saw her stumble back into the circle of zombies. Though heavily intoxicated, she muttered, “Quick! Protect me, you guys! Damn, that was close!”
Ji Lingbai: “…”
Moments ago, she had tenderly called him “my dear” under the moonlight.
Now, at the sign of danger, she had rolled away and left him behind?
Ji Lingbai took deep breaths, unable to quell his anger.
He focused on the thorny brush.
“Everyone, be cautious,” Xia Zhiqing warned, surrounded by floating wind blades, his clothes fluttering.
A high-level wind element user.
“It’s a beast horde!”
Eyes glowed in the dark woods.
“Just a beast horde,” Granny Hua confirmed, “I sense several high-level mutant beasts, including a leader. Be careful.”
As she spoke, another wave of mutant beasts charged.
Ji Lingbai, burning with unspent rage, didn’t wait. Covered in lightning, he leapt into the woods.
“Captain Ji!” Others shouted in surprise, “Don’t be reckless!”
But soon, the woods echoed with the cries of dying animals and the crackle of lightning. Ji Lingbai’s figure, suspended in midair, appeared as a God of war.
Granny Hua and several elders led the charge.
The others watched the woods anxiously.
“Is Captain Ji that angry because his good time was interrupted?” Someone speculated.
Xia Zhiqing wasn’t focused on that.
He saw Ji Lingbai’s energy fluctuations, a sign of imminent breakthrough.
Xia Zhiqing knew Ji Lingbai was a mid-level ability holder. To win over the First Fortress, he’d keep this secret as a bargaining chip.
Seeing Ji Lingbai charge into the woods, Xia Zhiqing sensed trouble. He followed, determined to capture the strongest, most intelligent beast.
He needed to know if the beast horde’s attack was spontaneous or a reconnaissance mission by the major zombie leader.
San Wu leaned against Da Hei, trying to stay alert despite her foggy mind.
“Stay careful,” she warned, slapping her face to wake up.
San Ling had already rushed out with his subordinates, not forgetting to drag the slain mutant beasts aside to pile up. These could all be traded for supplies.
This concept had become deeply ingrained in their minds.
More mutant beasts kept charging towards San Wu. Da Hei moved agilely, helping her dodge. San Wu clung tightly to Da Hei’s neck, enduring the nauseating feeling in her stomach without making a sound.
After several leaps and maneuvers, she suddenly felt a scorching sensation in front of her.
Hot blood splashed on her face.
She finally sobered up completely.
A hand fell in front of her. It wasn’t a zombie’s hand, nor a mutant beast’s.
It was the hand of an elderly person.
