She Raised Zombies in the Apocalypse - Chapter 79
“What’s all that shouting outside?”
“I don’t know. I just heard Ji Lingbai’s name!”
“And something about a training program…”
Since everyone in the Second Fortress was free, they all took their meals to the balcony to take a look.
From the second-floor railing, they could see a row of zombies standing below, each with a sign hanging around their necks, obediently following behind Jiang Tian.
Seeing how well-behaved the zombies were, people couldn’t help but think about their own unruly zombie lords.
“How come her zombies are so obedient? Low-level zombies are supposed to be the hardest to manage. Even here, those with a leader zombie don’t dare bring all the low-level ones into the fortress at once, in case they can’t control them and they start causing chaos.”
“Well, isn’t that why she’s starting a training program? If you’re so curious, why don’t you go check it out?”
Those without zombies to care for nudged their friends playfully, “Maybe your zombie will start behaving after the class.”
“That’s easy for you to say. Why don’t you go yourself?”
The Second Fortress quickly became a hubbub of chatter.
Yet, no one was really taking the training seriously.
Jiang Tian, standing below, grew more and more frustrated as time passed. “I told you this wouldn’t work! Who would hand over their zombie to be trained by someone else?”
He hung his head, feeling embarrassed, while the zombie “brother” next to him calmly patted his shoulder.
The zombie shook the sign around its neck, signaling him to keep promoting the class.
The boss had said they could earn their own food.
Jiang Tian never thought there would come a day when he needed to be comforted by a zombie.
The commotion quickly reached Granny Hua’s ears as she was eating.
The water she had just sipped sprayed out of her mouth.
She wiped her mouth in disbelief, “What did you say? A training program?”
The brothers Ding Fang and Ding Yuan excitedly repeated, “Yeah, a zombie training program! But they’re only accepting soldier-class zombies, and no more than ten at a time.”
“Oh, and Ji Lingbai personally recommends it!” Ding Fang added.
It was just like the old days when celebrities endorsed products.
“Whether Ji Lingbai recommends it or not doesn’t matter,” Granny Hua said, immediately standing up and heading outside. “What matters is why she’s willing to offer this…”
That’s right!
Granny Hua completely ignored the fake-death skill being taught. What she cared about was the “obedience guarantee” course.
You see, zombies were different from humans. There had been cases where a zombie turned on its master, even in their fortress. Some zombies inexplicably became disobedient or irritable.
But the zombies San Wu brought out this time seemed so well-behaved, they appeared harmless.
And they had long suspected that San Wu had a special method for controlling zombies. Granny Hua had already given up hope of learning it, but now San Wu was suddenly offering this?
Even if they couldn’t learn her method, at least she could help them control their zombies. Better some control than none.
As the fortress residents continued watching the spectacle, someone from the upper floor shouted down at Jiang Tian, “Hey! Give it up! Who’s going to trust you with training their zombies? Forget whether you even have the skills, our zombies’ bad tempers alone are enough to drive you nuts.”
“Hahaha! And Ji Lingbai recommends it, huh?”
“Do you think Ji Lingbai knows you’re using his name for this?”
Before their laughter died down, there was a sudden bang as the Second Fortress gate swung open.
Granny Hua strode out, dragging two soldier-class zombies behind her. “These two! Sign them up. These are the most disobedient zombies in our fortress.”
She patted the zombies on the head.
Maybe, once these zombies were inside, they’d learn something about how to tame them. Though these two were troublesome, they were considered some of the smarter soldier-class zombies.
The people who had been laughing moments earlier were left speechless.
“…?”
After Hua Granny, several more people rushed out with their zombies—many of whom had fought against the zombie tide together earlier.
“I’m in too. You said this is a guaranteed obedience program, right?”
“Can we go into the village with the zombies?”
“But let me make this clear—San Wu better not use any violent methods to make my zombie listen. That won’t work, and it’ll weaken their strength.”
“After-sales service? What if the zombies can’t learn? Do we get a refund on the supplies?”
Jiang Tian chuckled. Someone was actually willing?
It was probably because he hadn’t joined San Wu in fighting the zombie horde this time, so he didn’t understand the shock that San Wu’s well-behaved zombies had brought to these people.
The crowd, who had been mocking earlier, exchanged glances.
When no one wanted to go, they thought whoever went would be a fool.
But now, all the stronger people in the fortress were going, even Granny Hua was going.
The herd mentality was starting to stir. Could this bizarre training class actually be reliable in their eyes?
Unfortunately, the ten slots were already filled.
These ten zombie students, as per San Wu’s request, each brought a blood pack as their daily food supply.
They pushed and shoved, with no discipline, following behind Jiang Tian.
After all, these zombies were used to being treated like lords in front of their own masters.
Jiang Tian didn’t bother controlling them; San Wu had said the village zombies would handle things themselves, right?
All he had to do was recruit people and collect supplies.
