She Raised Zombies in the Apocalypse - Chapter 91
It wasn’t willing to be just a flower that could sing and predict the weather.
It wanted to grow stronger!
It wanted to receive more food every day!
Determined, the Rose began to exert itself, recalling how the Lamp Fruit had shaken and stunned everyone.
It definitely had untapped potential!
The Rose poured all its effort into blooming, using every ounce of strength it had.
And indeed!
The flowers suddenly became more vibrant and opened wider.
At this moment, San Wu was oblivious to her little darling’s efforts. She had heard that someone from the neighboring village had come to see her, so she hurriedly set aside her watering can and ran out.
Unbeknownst to her, not far away in the thorny forest, a nest of mutated bees had evolved to sustain themselves by sucking the blood of animals. They stirred their mouthparts, having caught a whiff of a long-lost, sweet scent that humans couldn’t detect.
The smell was so familiar that it led them to flap their wings frantically and swarm in the direction of the scent!
San Wu looked at Zhang Fen, who was holding a small basket of quail eggs. She paused and asked, “Is there something you need?”
“Nothing much, just wanted to meet the neighbors,” Zhang Fen said, her gaze drifting past San Wu, only to be blocked by the two zombies standing at the door.
“I’m Zhang Fen, and I currently lead a team of hundreds living in the neighboring village. You can call me Captain Zhang.” Hearing the old lady call her captain, San Wu realized that her title had been upgraded.
“Oh, I’m the… village chief of our village, San Wu?” San Wu noticed she hadn’t named her village yet, which made her sound less impressive than Zhang Fen.
Zhang Fen found San Wu’s peculiar name shocking each time she heard it.
However, she maintained a composed demeanor. “I’m straightforward in what I say and do, so let’s be direct: I hope we can coexist peacefully. I’ve always reciprocated kindness, but if any petty people dare to harbor ill intentions behind my back, I can turn hostile quickly.”
San Wu nodded at the basket of quail eggs, which contained about thirty, roughly the size of chicken eggs. That was quite impressive.
“Understood,” she said, holding the quail eggs and nodding earnestly. “I also hope your people won’t clash with mine.”
When mentioning her warriors, Zhang Fen’s face revealed a proud expression. “Of course! Our warriors are very capable; causing significant casualties on your side wouldn’t be good.”
Before San Wu could respond, the beautiful zombie, Mei Li, who understood her words, scoffed loudly.
Wearing the new bright red dress San Wu had made for her, she slightly raised her chin to look at Zhang Fen, her nostrils flaring as if to say, ‘You’re full of crap.’
Zhang Fen felt her mouth twitch under Mei Li’s gaze. “Ms. San Wu, does your zombie have a problem with my eloquence?”
The usually gentle and peace-loving San Wu waved her hands dismissively. “Well, our Mei Li doesn’t have many characteristics; she’s just very… straightforward and not very accommodating. She tends to state objective facts, and I can’t change that. You see, she’s already a zombie; I can’t alter her inherent nature.”
What a statement of facts!
“It seems you have a lot of confidence in your subordinates’ combat ability.”
San Wu humbly waved her hand again. “We just mess around a bit; we can’t compare to Captain Zhang and your daring team. I’m just scraping by on my own here.”
Zhang Fen nodded reluctantly, sensing that San Wu might be lacking ambition, though it was also possible that she was just bluffing.
As they were talking, both of them suddenly heard a buzzing sound.
San Wu looked up and saw a massive swarm of black mutated bees charging towards her.
“Mutated bees!” Zhang Fen immediately entered a state of alert, and the zombies quickly surrounded San Wu.
Strangely, the swarm of mutated bees wasn’t heading for them but was heading straight into the village surrounded by tall walls.
San Wu’s expression changed. She grabbed the whistle hanging around Mei Li’s neck and blew into it sharply. The piercing whistle echoed, and all the zombie subordinates rushed out of their rooms.
“What’s going on?” the zombie leader asked as he and a few other zombies walked outside, only to see a group of black-winged bees hovering in the sky.
There were about a hundred of them, and the largest one in the center, the queen bee, appeared restless.
Fearing that these creatures might destroy her precious vegetables and fruits, San Wu turned around and shouted, “Go back! Everyone, back inside! If those mutated bees dare to come down, not a single one shall be spared!”
“Smash their useless heads for me!”
Her voice was fierce, and her ferocity startled Zhang Fen, given the stark contrast to her earlier demeanor.
San Wu charged back into the village, slamming the door shut with a bang, leaving Zhang Fen and her capable assistant, Lin Qisheng, exchanging glances of disbelief.
“Is she just going in like that?” Lin Qisheng was surprised. “Isn’t she going to avoid them?”
Zhang Fen turned around. “There must be something important inside for her to act like this.” She had come with some intention of testing and demonstrating her strength, bringing quail eggs as a peace offering.
“Let’s go,” Zhang Fen said with a smile. “She might not be able to deal with those mutated bees. Flying creatures are the most troublesome.”
Otherwise, why would Ji Lingbai of the First Fortress be someone everyone feared?
Wasn’t it just because he alone had the unique ability to evolve his wings?
“What brought these creatures to our village?” San Wu wondered, shocked by the bizarre scene.
No one knew when they would suddenly swoop down.
The rose, having just put in a lot of effort, was now hiding safely in a corner of the wall.
Who was foolish enough to attract the bees?
