110-chapter-32

She thought for a moment, then said, “Could it be the Chi family? But you’re not associated with them anymore…”

After pondering for a while and failing to come up with an answer, she curiously asked, “Then who posted that picture? I haven’t seen it before.”

As she spoke, she opened her phone and showed Chi You the screen, revealing the audition picture of Chi You that was circulated that day.

Chi You chuckled, loosened her grip on Shi Yue’s hand, and let her eat the cake first. She propped her chin with her hand and said slowly, “It was Senior Qin.”

“Senior Qin?” Shi Yue thought for a moment, then asked, “Qin Yi?”

Chi You nodded, her lengthy eyelashes fanning gracefully as a discernible smile played on her lips.

Shi Yue swallowed the last bit of cake, her eyes widening. “I heard people say she’s quite aloof and hard to get along with. There’s been a lot of online criticism, but I never expected…”

Chi You nodded in agreement. “I also had the impression that she might be difficult initially. It wasn’t until I got to know her that I realized she’s quite pleasant.”

Shi Yue’s worries eased up a bit. “I was concerned that someone might be mistreating you on set. Since Qin Yi is treating you well, I assume there’s no one in your cast who dislikes you, right?”

Chi You’s eyes shimmered, and she smiled thoughtfully, choosing not to address that question. Instead, she abruptly said, “Senior, there’s something I need to tell you.”

Shi Yue looked up, a hint of cream still on her lips, a puzzled expression on her face. “Hmm?”

Chi You collected her thoughts, but before she could speak, she noticed Shi Yue suddenly widening her eyes.

Shi Yue exclaimed, “Huh!”

She took a deep breath, lowering her voice in astonishment, saying, “That’s Mr. Gu!”

Chi You paused, following Shi Yue’s gaze. She turned her head and locked eyes with a well-dressed man.

Gu Jingxu donned a fitted three-piece black suit, with deep brows and thin lips. His long legs swiftly brought him to her side.

The man lowered his head and spoke softly, “I went to the set and didn’t find you. Yang Qirou mentioned you were here.”

Chi You nodded, indicating her awareness.

Shi Yue sat across from them, eyes wide, in a state of shock.

Her mind was a whirlwind, and the words eluded her.

Gu Jingxu stood beside Chi You, displaying no intention to interrupt her conversation with her friend. He refrained from sitting down and instead nodded politely at the girl across from Chi You, projecting a cold and distant demeanor.

Witnessing the stunned expression on the girl’s face, he paused.

Taking in Shi Yue’s expression entirely, Chi You lifted her head and addressed Gu Jingxu, “Did you drive here yourself?”

“Assistant Wang drove.”

Chi You nodded, “Then go wait for me in the car. I’ll be back soon.”

Gu Jingxu nodded and turned to leave, behaving obediently as if he were someone else.

Until the man’s figure disappeared from outside the coffee shop’s glass window, Shi Yue slowly closed her mouth. She dryly asked, “Is… is it as I suspect?”

Looking at her expression, there was no need to guess what she was thinking.

Chi You hesitated for a moment, pursed her lips, and nodded.

Shi Yue: “!!!!”

. . .

Even in the face of shock, she had to return to work.

Shi Yue, donning a shocked expression that suggested a desire for gossip, reluctantly stepped into the taxi arranged by Chi You. Closing the car door, she caught sight of the conspicuous black Maybach behind them. No matter how she pondered, she couldn’t fathom how her junior ended up with that financial tycoon.

Chi You’s break was drawing to a close, so as soon as she entered the car, Assistant Wang drove them back to the set.

Her phone had been on silent, and only now did she find a moment to glance at the message from Gu Jingxu. However, since they were seated together, she opted not to reply and leaned slightly toward the man.

Gu Jingxu allowed the girl to lean on him. Lowering his head, he noticed her soft, slender eyelashes and couldn’t help but ask, “Tired?”

Chi You moved her head a couple of times, her eyelashes fluttering slowly up and down. Gu Jingxu gazed at her for a while and inquired if she was almost done shooting.

“Watching the Tides” was a drama invested in by the Gu family. Combined with occasional updates from He Xing about the on-set situation, he had some knowledge of the progress.

Chi You smiled, “Yes.”

The drama was about to finish shooting.

However, there wasn’t much excitement in her heart.

Leaning against the man’s shoulder, she looked up and suddenly said, “Gu Jingxu.”

Gu Jingxu lowered his eyes, taking in her snowy white face. His expression softened a bit more.

This kind of expression might seem inappropriate to someone with somewhat stern features, but when he looked at Chi You with such eyes, it appeared overly gentle.

She smiled faintly, “It’s nothing.”

The original plot in her mind kept reminding her not to make unauthorized changes.

Even though she wanted to remind Gu Jingxu, the current relationship between them actually seemed more like they were in love.

——

However, the car came to a stop after just two or three minutes.

Assistant Wang was about to get out of the car to open the door for Chi You but was stopped by her.

She turned to look at Gu Jingxu. “I’ll go in first, you come over later.”

Gu Jingxu’s eyelashes lowered, and he paused, then said after a while, “Okay.”

The man sat in the car, watching the girl open the door and step out. Then, he slightly lifted his head, glanced around, and took steps in a certain direction.

The midday sun was strong for a while. With the air conditioning on in the car, Gu Jingxu’s gaze followed Chi You’s figure, and his eyes gradually softened.

She forgot to turn around and take another look.
