14-chapter-8

“Why are you blushing when you’re being scolded? Big brother! What’s there to blush about when you’re being scolded?!”

Bao Yihong covered his ears, pretending to be an ostrich.

Chi You laughed, “Hahaha!”

She laughed until her face felt stiff. Suddenly, she noticed a gaze. She turned to look, and on the side were some crew members talking. She slightly averted her gaze, and when she saw Bao Yihong protecting his neck and saying he would be more careful next time, she couldn’t help but burst into laughter again.

At noon, the crew provided lunch. The female lead, Qin Yi, didn’t eat with them; instead, she went back to her trailer.

Feeling a bit warm now, Chi You decided to go back to the makeup room to tie up her hair.

As soon as she entered, a person with a pale face followed her in, opened his mouth, and said, “Didn’t I tell you we’ve broken up? Why are you still persistently bothering me? You even came to the set to chase after me! Chi You, I won’t change my mind!”

Chi You: “…………”

Silence fermented in the makeup room.

Awkwardness began to permeate the air.

Du Xu couldn’t maintain the expression on his face. He sneered loudly, “Why aren’t you saying anything?!”

Chi You took several seconds to react and recognize who the person in front of her was.

When he walked in just now, the senior had mentioned him—an ex-boyfriend who also worked on the same set.

She glanced at his face, instantly looked away, and practically wrote “eyesore” on her face, “Sorry, you’re too ugly. I didn’t recognize you.”

Du Xu played a minor cannon fodder role in this drama, appearing only twice before meeting his demise. His makeup was casually done, and the wig tightened against his scalp, revealing his entire forehead and making him so ugly.

She hesitated, “Did you choose this point on purpose to flaunt in front of me, so that I lose my appetite?”

Pausing for a moment, she added, “Well, you succeeded.”

Du Xu was so infuriated that he struggled to breathe. He couldn’t believe that Chi You was now so articulate. Unable to utter a word, he could only squeeze out, “I won’t get back together with you anyway!”

Chi You responded, “Well, thank you very much for that.”

Du Xu, still angry, wanted to say something more, but then he heard voices outside. Afraid of their previous relationship being discovered, he glared at her fiercely and then ran away.

Chi You couldn’t help but twitch the corners of her mouth. She couldn’t understand how the original owner could be interested in someone like Du Xu.

Her complexion wasn’t great. She casually tied her hair into a bun and pulled a few strands of bangs over her forehead. Then, she left the room.

But in the next moment, she almost bumped into someone.

Chi You knew that the investor of this drama was Gu Jingxu, but she didn’t expect to see him here on the first day of shooting.

The man’s cold fragrance was pleasant. She feigned surprise on her face, having seen him during the university’s ceremony; pretending not to recognize him would be too cliché.

So, she took a step back, maintaining a distance, and looked up at the man’s indifferent black eyes.

“Mr. Gu?”

The girl’s face didn’t look good as she came out, probably because of what the person had said to her. Her expression was a bit cold. But when she collided with him, she looked surprised, but when she realized it was him, a hint of a smile appeared in her eyes.

Chi You’s changing expression fell into Gu Jingxu’s eyes, and he gently shook his head, shifting his gaze away.

Chi You raised an eyebrow slightly but remained silent. She nodded at him and then turned and left without hesitation.

After taking two steps, he called her, “Chi You.”

Chi You narrowed her eyes, a silent smile playing on her lips.

From time to time, staff members passed by the two of them. They attracted surprised looks, seeing the girl with a bun hairstyle walking side by side with a suited man.

Ignoring the curious glances, perhaps feeling the need to break the silence, Chi You suddenly spoke, “I didn’t expect Mr. Gu to know my name.”

Gu Jingxu looked at her, his voice slow as he said, “The dean mentioned that you are the top student, not just in the finance department but in the entire A University.”

His tone was casual, and after a pause, he added, as if making up for something, “How come you’re here?”

Chi You didn’t expose him. The deep smile in her eyes was profound. “Changed professions.”

Three words, spoken effortlessly.

After saying that, she turned her head again, her expression very natural. “I think I’m so beautiful, it would be a waste not to be on TV.”

Her eyes curved slightly, full of tenderness. Once caught in this not-too-light gaze, it was difficult to look away.

The girl was very confident, and she didn’t care whether Gu Jingxu thought she was arrogant or not.

But she was indeed beautiful.

Gu Jingxu remained silent. He slowly withdrew his gaze, his eyes deep. He made a confirming sound, “Hmm.”

Chi You’s smile became even more genuine.

The two of them headed to the restaurant together, with Chi You leading the way. He Xing was busy with his phone, and catching a glimpse of her approaching, he immediately said, “Chi You, hurry, I asked them to save a yogurt for you, quickly check if it’s still there—”

He spoke while looking up and, seeing Gu Jingxu behind her, showed surprise and asked in confusion, “Why are you two coming together?”

Chi You had already seen the yogurt. She didn’t look back, saying, “Mr. Gu got lost on set, so I brought him over.”

“What?!” He Xing looked at Gu Jingxu with a puzzled expression.

With so many dramas produced by the Gu family, and Gu Jingxu overseeing several personally as the president, his presence on set was more frequent than going home.

Got lost??

Gu Jingxu’s gaze landed on Chi You, who had already walked to the yogurt area. Bao Yihong was sitting nearby, eating. Seeing her approach, he buried his head in the box, asking her what flavor she wanted.

Chi You lightly laughed and said she wanted mango, seemingly oblivious to He Xing’s reaction.

Gu Jingxu turned his head, and his expression remained emotionless. He spoke coldly, “Don’t say anything.”

He Xing: ??
